Grandees split on Carney’s plan

Members of an advisory board, which includes former UK Chancellor Norman Lamont, are divided on the new governor of the Bank of England

Just under half the members of an advisory board stuffed with financial and political heavy weights, have given the thumbs down to Bank of England governor Mark Carney’s attempt to boost UK growth by keeping UK interest rates low.

The poll takes account of the view of 60 members of Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum think tank advisory board. It comprises more than 130 senior politicians and bankers, including Norman Lamont, former UK Chancellor, David Owen, former UK foreign secretary, Bo Lundgren, former Swedish minister for foreign affairs, Paul Rasmussen, former Danish prime minister, Jay Ayra, chairman of the sovereign advisory board at BNY Mellon and Frank Scheidig, global head of capital markets at BZ Bank in Frankfurt.
