The former co-heads of Morgan Stanley’s property arm have teamed up with two former colleagues to launch a new venture that will first invest in distressed Japanese real estate.

John Carrafiell and Sonny Kalsi have set up the new firm that will raise money to invest first in Japan, before extending its investments to the UK, Spain and Germany, according to a source familiar with the situation.
