CBI demands date for when businesses can return to the office

Dame Carolyn Fairbairn warns that if employees continue to work from home, it could destroy the high street

The director-general of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has called for the government to give a clear deadline on when businesses can return to the office, so that employees can help support the UK’s struggling high streets.

Dame Carolyn Fairbairn urged the government to clarify exactly when companies will be given the green light to return to the office, during a CBI webinar on 13 July. Fairbairn described the detail of this policy area as “fuzzy” and said that the CBI will push the government “pretty hard” to find out the precise details of their plan for organisations to return physically.
