The introduction of sweeping new securities rules in Europe this week has propelled trading on Cboe Global Markets' daily auctions to new highs and given an early indication of how investors will now trade shares across the region.

The European Union's revised Markets in Financial Instruments Directive took effect on January 3 and introduced caps on the amount of trading that takes place away from public exchanges in so-called dark pools.
