Mit Mehta, a former principal at CCMP Capital Advisors, has joined the merchant banking practice at Macquarie Group, heading up the Australian firm's energy operations.

Mehta joined CCMP in 2007 and was focused on investments in the energy and industrial sectors. He left the firm last year, taking a year off before joining Macquarie, according to a person familiar with the situation.
