CDC Ixis Asset Management, a Paris-based fund manager with €313bn ($274bn) in assets, has launched a long/short European hedge fund as part of a dedicated push into the alternative arena.

Since 1997, the French fund manager, part owned by the French state, has had an alternative business offering global macro strategies that aim to achieve enhanced cash returns.
