The Committee of European Bank Supervisors today sided with members of the European Parliament and toed a strict line on bankers' bonuses, capping the amount of cash they can receive upfront at 30%, according to guidance published on their website.
The decision, which comes after the committee met Wednesday and Thursday in London, is contrary to the UKFinancial Services Authority's broader interpretation of the rules, which would allow bankers to receive as much as 50% cash up front when paid a bonus.
