Diversity among chief executives has taken a hit since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Research carried out by executive recruitment firm Heidrick & Struggles, which analysed CEOs at 965 of the world’s biggest companies, including the UK’s FTSE 100, found that 95% of CEO hires in the UK this year were male, an increase from 93% in 2019 and 91.8% in 2018.
