CFTC suit puts non-US firms in limbo

A lawsuit filed against the US regulator means uncertainty on Dodd-Frank compliance is escalating as deadlines loom

A lawsuit filed against the Commodity Futures Trading Commission contesting aggressive new cross-border derivatives trading rules leaves non-US firms “frozen” in a state of further regulatory uncertainty, according to lawyers.

Speaking at the Futures Industry Association conference in Singapore yesterday afternoon, legal experts said the suit filed by three bank trade associations on Wednesday created further confusion for firms forced to comply with US rules.
