The UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak set out the government's plans for priority spending for the next year, highlighting preparations to ringfence some public sector pay bands among those in crucial services such as the NHS, along with a freeze for other departments.

But Sunak also pointed out that the UK would see a sharp contraction - not seen for some 300 years.
