The Square Mile is preparing for a changing of its political guard, despite some of the UK’s most senior Treasury officials holding on to their positions in a Conservative election wipeout.

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt’s Godalming and Ash seat had been Conservative for 19 years before the 4 July election. His majority fell from nearly 9,000 to under 900 as other senior party figures were toppled amid a Labour landslide.
