Chase buy reveals the key areas of conflict

Up to 3,000 jobs will be lost across the group in JP Morgan link-up

When JP Morgan and Chase Manhattan announce their new global M&A structure at the end of October, there is unlikely to be the level of fallout normally associated with a Chase acquisition - at least for the acquiree.

In past buys, Chase always assumed the upper hand - staff departed in droves from Manufacturers Hanover and Chemical Bank during the often brutal restructurings, and Flemings has hardly enjoyed a smooth integration.
