Jonathan Sutton, the most senior member of staff to leave broker Cheuvreux when it was closed earlier this year, has joined Seymour Pierce as head of equities. He replaces Richard Ratner, who has been made vice-chairman of the UK broker.

Sutton was head of the UK broking at Cheuvreux, the brokerage arm of French bank Calyon, which closed down its UK operation in May causing the loss of 27 jobs.
