London-based alternative trading system Chi-X Europe has hired a former operations director from Morgan Stanley as a non-executive director, days before rival trading system Turquoise is due to go live.

The trading platform, which now trades one-sixth of the volume of FTSE 100 stocks executive on the London Stock Exchange, has hired Marye Humphery as non-executive director, effective immediately.
