The London Stock Exchange's chief executive has said work on a proposed link between the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the LSE is proceeding and is on track to "start operating next year".

A potential connection between London and China's equity markets was announced by UK Chancellor George Osborne in September 2015 during a trade mission to China. Osborne said a feasibility study would be conducted jointly by the LSE and the SSE, to examine how this would work in practice.
