Citigroup has named a long-serving banker to head its Middle East business, the latest change at the US bank as it aims to install more women in senior positions.

Elissar Farah Antonios has been named head of the Middle East and North Africa at Citi, according to an internal memo seen by 

, the first time the bank has appointed a woman to lead in the region.
