Jim Zelter has left his role as global head of high yield at Citigroup to become chief investment officer of the global investment group run by Michael Carpenter, Citigroup's former head of investment banking.

Zelter, who remains global co-head of distressed debt trading, will oversee the banking group's proprietary investments strategy within the global investment group and will chair several investment committees.
