Citigroup has hired the former chief executive of corporate and institutional banking at ABN Amro to lead its advisory team in the Benelux region, as the US investment bank continues to bolster headcount in Europe.
Rutger van Nouhuijs has joined as head of banking, capital markets and advisory for Benelux, based in Amsterdam, according to a memo seen by Financial News. His appointment marks the end of a 28-year career at the Dutch lender, and is another senior appointment at Citigroup, which is gunning for the top spot in the Europe, Middle East and Africa investment banking league tables.
