Citigroup received over 3,000 applications for its new graduate programme in the Spanish city of Malaga — a sign the bank’s battle to attract junior talent with sun and sand is paying off.

The US investment bank attracted thousands of candidates for just 30 analyst roles for its new hub in the Andalusian city, which boasts eight-miles of Mediterranean coastline, a bank spokesperson confirmed to Financial News.
