Citigroup has shaken up bonus payments for senior bankers, tying compensation to longer-term risk-taking as it continues to overhaul its controls at the behest of US regulators.

The US bank has increased the number of bankers and traders getting paid more in longer-term stock options, as well as reducing the amount it pays out immediately in cash, according to people familiar with the matter.
