Citigroup is set to reduce the number of employees it promotes as the US bank continues to keep a lid on costs after a year of restructuring.

The Wall Street bank could elevate just 2,000 employees in its year-end promotions next month, down from around 8,000 in previous years, the Financial Times reported citing people familiar with the matter.
