Citigroup has set its sights on acquisitions in the asset management industry. However, Todd Thomson, the US bank's chief financial officer, has expressed concern at the high prices in the sector.

"We're looking for deals in the transaction services, asset management and private banking businesses. It's just hard to find one at the right price," Thomson said.
