Citigroup is set to strip out layers of management and start a fresh round of job cuts as part of a radical shake-up of the Wall Street bank's upper ranks unveiled by chief executive Jane Fraser.

The US bank has shuttered its institutional client group, which houses its investment bank, as well as the personal banking and wealth unit, it said in a statement announcing the changes. It will also reorganise the bank into five key business lines.
