Bankers worry: ‘We’re spending too much time on Brexit’

Executives from Citi and Moelis say the distraction of the UK leaving the EU is diverting City bankers’ attention from global problems

London’s bankers are finding their time and attention diverted by Brexit when they should be preparing the City for the financial challenges of the future, two of the City’s most senior bankers said today.

James Bardrick, the head of Citigroup’s UK arm, said the country’s EU exit threatens to leave London’s bankers behind the curve by distracting them from the rise of Asia, the financial impacts of ageing populations, and the technological revolution sweeping through the economy.
