Commodities broker Marex Spectron has appointed its first female board chair, amid efforts by London’s traders to shake off a dismal reputation for gender diversity.

Carla Stent, former chief operating officer at Virgin Group and deputy chief financial officer of the global retail banking arm of Barclays Bank, will take up the position after serving as chair of the broker’s audit and compliance committee for the past four years.
