City broker Numis avoids Mifid II squeeze with 86% profit rise

UK stockbroker Numis has posted an 86% increase in pre-tax profits during the first quarter of 2018, its first results since the introduction of new trading rules that are expected to hit smaller research houses.

Numis recorded pre-tax profits of £19.5m during the period, compared with £10.5m in the first quarter last year. Revenues were up 41% to £74.1m.
