City grandees are pressing ahead with plans to produce a report offering definitive solutions to the UK's listings crisis, with top politicians already briefed on early ideas, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Capital Markets Industry Taskforce asked Legal and General boss Sir Nigel Wilson to lead work on a plan to defend Britain's status as a financial hub earlier this year in the face of anaemic trading volume and a lack of new blood looking to IPO in London.
