City heavyweights including Schroders chief executive Peter Harrison have written to chancellor Rachel Reeves warning of an “impending crisis of long-term savings and investment in the UK”.

The letter, which is also signed by former Standard Life Aberdeen boss Keith Skeoch and Pension Insurance Corporation chief Tracy Blackwell, urges the Labour government to “make restoring this savings and investment deficit to health a core mission”.
