City jobs slump by almost a third amid spike in candidates seeking finance roles

Those that moved to different jobs saw an 18% change in their salaries, 'the lowest salary increase expectations in almost two years'

The number of job hunters looking for work in City firms has risen by 12% year-on-year, but roles in the sector are down by almost a third.

The latest employment monitor report from recruiter Morgan McKinley shows that on a quarterly basis, there is a 3% increase in jobs available in the sector compared with 2022, amid a 19% increase in job seekers. Altogether, jobs available year on year are down by 31%.
