The City minister has scotched calls from the governor of the Bank of England for a review of the controversial cap on banker bonuses after the UK leaves the European Union.
Stephen Barclay, who was appointed City minister in June, has distanced himself from Mark Carney’s claim that the bonus cap, introduced in January 2014, is unnecessary and could be removed following the UK's departure from the EU in 2019.
