Plans for one of the tallest towers in London moved a step closer after the City of London Corporation made an extremely rare intervention to fend off objections from neighbours.

Developers behind the 62-storey tower at 22 Bishopsgate had feared their project could be threatened by neighbouring landlords and occupiers who argued the scheme blocked their so-called "right to light".
