Europe's IPO bankers might have been busier than their counterparts in the US in January, but they were far from immune to the chilly start to the year. The total value of initial public offerings plummeted to a seven-year low.
With volatile markets derailing deals across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the region saw a total value of just $35 million for the seven IPOs which took place in January - down significantly from the $812 million worth of floats in January 2015 and the $3.3 billion seen in January 2014. It was the worst month for Emea IPOs by value since September 2009.
