The City of London Corporation has backtracked on plans to re-name a Square Mile walkway to memorialise a late councillor after complaints from nearby residents.

The corporation’s planning and transportation committee agreed in February to change the name of part of the St Alphage Highwalk to Barker Bridge in commemoration of John Barker, a former chief commoner at the corporation, who died in May 2017.
