City transport boss demands action over traffic danger zone

Chris Hayward says improving safety at notorious Ludgate Circus junction is ‘critically important’

The City of London’s transport boss has made an impassioned plea for Transport for London to improve safety at one of the Square Mile’s most notorious spots for traffic accidents, after more than a year of discussions.

Chris Hayward, who chairs the City of London Corporation’s planning and transportation committee, said safety initiatives at Ludgate Circus, near St Paul’s Cathedral, are “critically important” and “one of the highest political priorities” for the corporation.
