The City has warned Theresa May to slam the brakes on the hard Brexit deal she is pursuing with the European Union and to listen to the concerns of the Square Mile after last week’s disastrous election left her short of a governing majority.

The hope is May’s failure to win a majority will lessen her ability to push for a Brexit in which the UK leaves the EU’s single market and customs union.
