City watchdog warns investors on risk of ‘losing all their money’ with cryptoassets

The Financial Conduct Authority has warned consumers that investing in cryptoassets such as bitcoin involves such a high risk that “they should be prepared to lose all their money”.

In a notice published on 11 January, the financial regulator said some firms were offering investments in cryptoassets, or instruments linked to those assets, that promise high returns.
