Back in May, I reported what seemed a shift in City sentiment towards Boris Johnson. Some big cheeses who had previously viewed the prospect of Johnson gaining the keys to Downing Street with horror seemed to have come round to the idea. Reluctantly.
The change of heart had various causes. But a common theme was that, among the Tory leadership contenders, Johnson was seen as the most likely to win concessions from Brussels, stand up to the ultra-Leavers and avoid the perils of a no-deal Brexit.
