City welcomes watering down on pay bands

Lawyers and consultants welcome news that UK is unlikely to force disclosure on number of employees earning £1m

The City of London welcomed news this morning that the UK Treasury is likely to water down proposals that would have forced banks to disclose the number of employees earning more than £1m.

Government adviser Sir David Walker last year proposed enhanced disclosure on remuneration, telling Financial News at the time that it was shocking that many investors did not know that hundreds of people were often paid more than the executive board median.
