After the Brexit vote, a Spanish employee of a large custodian bank in London, said he wanted to leave London and go back to his native Spain. But 18 months on, his feelings have mellowed and he now feels more optimistic about post Brexit life in the City.

“When it happened, I woke up and I put the TV on and I was angry and thought ‘that is it, I will leave because I don’t feel welcome in the UK’,” he said. “But at the end of the day I don’t think I’ll move unless I have really good opportunities. I’ve been here for five years and I don’t see my job as at risk. At the moment, the opportunities I can get in London, I can’t get anywhere else.”
