One thing connects the rich mix of leadership changes which have been taking place at asset management businesses.

Over the past 12 months, for example, Andreas Utermann took sole control at Allianz Global Investors. Campbell Fleming emerged as Martin Gilbert's heir apparent at Aberdeen Asset Management. Pascal Duval quit as Emea chief executive at Russell Investments. New CEOs took power at Credit Suisse, Deutsche, Fidelity, M&G, Man Group, Newton, Nordea Asset Management, Pimco and Schroders.
