The financial sector is the most elitist profession in Britain with staff from working-class backgrounds taking home around £13,713 less than their peers from wealthier upbringings, a new study has found.
Financial firms and other major UK employers will be expected to tell the government's Social Mobility Commission how they intend to close their class pay gap, after a study published on January 26 revealed that those from working-class backgrounds are paid on average of £6,800 less each year than their middle-class peers.
