Clayton, Dubilier & Rice gives up on German plan

Benedikt von Schröder has quit as a partner of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice after Germany's desultory dealflow led the US buy-out firm to abandon plans to open an office in the country.

A spokesman for the firm said: "Germany has developed more slowly than expected and opening an office there no longer feels like a strategic priority. It's better to focus on European development from London."
