The Bank of England plans to turn its supervisory spotlight onto clearing houses, the vital plumbing that underpins the financial system, throughout the rest of 2017.

The Bank outlined its supervisory priorities for market infrastructure firms in the next 12 months in a paper published on February 22. Its efforts to better supervise central clearing counterparties, also known as CCPs or clearing houses, will form a core part of its agenda.
