Clifford Chance halves work experience scheme and goes virtual

Magic Circle law firm will pay final-year university students half what they would normally receive for the two-week programme

Magic Circle law firm Clifford Chance has made substantial changes to its 2020 work experience schemes for university students, as City employers continue to adapt to the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Aishling Morris, a graduate recruitment specialist at the firm, said a training programme offered to final-year university students had been halved from two weeks to one. This means the 30 graduates starting on 1 July will receive half of the normal salary paid, a reduction from £900 to £450.
