Close Brothers Private Equity exits stake in door manufacturer

Close Brothers Private Equity, the private equity subsidiary of UK merchant bank Close Brothers, has sold its investment in Amber Doors, the UK door manufacturer, despite a difficult exit environment for private equity firms.

Close Brothers sold Amber Doors to Cardo, the Swedish manufacturing firm, for £15m (€24.3m). No financial details of the return made on the investment were disclosed. Amber Doors manufactures doors for industrial, security and fire safety uses. Close Brothers originally invested in Amber Doors in 1998, as it fits the private equity firm's investment focus on specialist manufacturers in the UK mid-market sector.
