The value of UK buyouts has risen by almost a quarter in the past year to £15.7bn – while the number of deals remained static – suggesting that “resilience” in the country has led to larger deals.
The total value of UK buyouts rose by 23% from £12.7bn last year, according to data published by the Centre for Management Buy-out Research, while the number of deals increased slightly to 189 from 187 in the same period. The increase in deal value suggests that firms have been carrying out larger acquisitions per deal. The Centre for Management Buy-out Research data also showed an uptick in the number of £1bn-plus mega buyouts, from one in 2011 to three deals this year.
