The US derivatives giant CME Group will shut its loss-making London-based exchange and clearing house by the end of the year.

The group confirmed its intentions to close CME Europe and CME Clearing Europe in a statement on April 12, and said it would spend the coming months working closely with market participants and regulators to ensure an "orderly wind down".
