A buyout executive who represented Great Britain in the 2004 Olympic Games has left Cognetas and joined a UK rival

A former Olympic rower has become the latest departure from shaken up buyout firm Cognetas, which is in the midst of a fund suspension following the departure of its managing partner in June.

Simon Cottle, a former investment manager at the firm, has left after three years, according to Cognetas. He has joined rival HgCapital's services investments team which former Hellman & Friedman executive Thorsten Toepfer is also due to join, according to a spokesman for HgCapital.
