Paul Grewal was deeply engaged in the US justice system, serving as a federal judge in 2011, when he first came across Bitcoin.

“One day I was in my chambers and I looked at the first application for a search warrant and noticed that the request was to search something called Bitcoin. At that time I had no idea what Bitcoin was,” Coinbase’s chief legal officer told Financial News.
