CoinShares, the digital investment group that oversees more than $4.7bn, has called for cryptocurrencies to be included in a revised list of eligible assets that can be held by European retail funds.

The majority of retail mutual funds sold to investors in the European Union have to adhere to strict criteria under the bloc’s Ucits framework. These include meeting requirements on liquidity, diversification and investment only in certain asset classes.
